Mary Evelyn & John Across China, Part 2

Tara C. Trapani

In June, we shared about Mary Evelyn and John's great journey to China this summer to engage further with the topic of Ecological Civilization, including the conference in Xinxiang province sponsored by Pan Yue (Deputy Minister of Ethnic Peoples) and talks at universities in Beijing.

And in the recent weeks, they have participated in a conference on Aristotle and Confucius at his birthplace in the east (see the conference agenda here and read more about the event in this article from the Global Times) and visited UNESCO heritage sites of minority peoples in Lijiang and Dali in the mountains of Yunnan province in the southwest, where they showed Journey of the Universe. Here are some images taken by them of the heritage sites:

This article was written about them and their work last week in China News: “Chinese culture endowed with rich ecological civilization philosophies: Yale Scholars.

They've also given several important interviews in recent weeks for CGTN (China Global Television Network), including this full-length one for the program World Insight with Tian Wei. Some images from the filming:

And here is a shorter interview produced for China News:

Very soon, Mary Evelyn and John will be returning to the US to impart all they've learned and experienced with us. We'll be sharing what they bring back here in the blog, in our newsletter, and look for more additions and enhancements to the Ecological Civilization section of our site in the months to come!
