We at the Forum are extremely pleased to announce that our new series of online religion & ecology courses, “Religions and Ecology: Restoring the Earth Community,” was released last week from Yale University and the Coursera online learning platform. Mary Evelyn Tucker, John Grim, and a team of dedicated graduate students have been building these courses for a number of years, and we are very happy that they are finally up online and available to all.
These courses are completely free to audit (see more about that on our site, here) and available anywhere in the world. You can begin anytime and work at your own pace. Community mentors are provided to help students with the material and engage with them further on the subject matter. You may take the courses in any order, but we strongly recommend that students take Introduction to Religions and Ecology first, to provide context for the subsequent courses.
These are the 6 available courses. These links will take you directly to the individual course pages at Coursera, but we recommend you also see the information on our site for further explanation regarding the specialization and how to audit the courses:
- Introduction to Religions and Ecology*
- Indigenous Traditions and Ecology*
- South Asian Religions and Ecology*
- East Asian Religions and Ecology*
- Western Religions and Ecology*
- Christianity and Ecology
*Completion of these first five courses leads to a Coursera Specialization certificate. Christianity and Ecology is not part of the specialization. For more explanation about the specialization, see our site, here.
Hear Mary Evelyn Tucker and John Grim speak more about the courses on this new edition of the Earth & Spirit Center Podcast or check out the introductory video below.
We hope you will join us online to dive in and discover the ecological depths of these diverse religious traditions.
