Dear Colleagues,
I hope this message finds you well. We are writing to share that our short-term advisory contracts with the G20 Global Land Initiative, which focused on establishing the initial framework for faith-based engagement in land restoration, has concluded as originally planned with the successful delivery of our outputs at UNCCD COP16.
We wanted to express our sincere gratitude for your valuable contributions to this work, which has helped establish a strong foundation for faith-led restoration efforts. This has included:
- Faith Stocktake Report: A comprehensive analysis of faith actors' potential contributions to the G20 GLI's goal of reducing degraded land by 50% by 2040
- Multi-Faith “Rio Trio” Call to Action. The interfaith statement connecting restoration work across the Rio Conventions
- The Riyadh Action Agenda officially recognizing religious communities as key actors in land restoration efforts
The G20 GLI team will be conducting a strategic review of the faith work program in early 2025 to determine next phases of engagement based on the stocktake outcomes. For any immediate questions or updates, please contact Joann Lee, Lead on Stakeholder Engagement at the G20 Global Land Initiative: jlee@unccd.int
We look forward to potential future collaborations as this important work continues to evolve. While our formal roles with G20 GLI are concluding for this phase, we remain deeply committed to advancing faith-based contributions to ecosystem restoration through the UN Decade and other platforms.
