Judson Arts presents an awareness and fundraiser for:
Wilderness Art Photography Book and Video Project
Visual Artist André Daughtry, who also served as the former Minister of the Arts at Judson Church in New York City, is currently working on his latest project WILDERNESS, a photographic book and video art project that is attempting to bring an indigenous perspective into the conversation of ecological sustainability. As a speculative documentary photography and video artist, he has been engaging with ideas around “integral ecology,” which is a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to the questions of ecological sustainability that investigates not only economic or industrial realities but also the art, cultural practices, and spiritual traditions of societies.
The event will feature a screening of “Sketches for Wilderness,” a personal video travelogue where André pulled together elements that he wanted to explore during his three-year stay with the Misak people of Colombia in order to create a final project. The screening will be followed by a conversation between the artist, author and educator Sam Mickey, PhD, University of San Francisco, and curator and indigenous cultural advocate Eva Mayhabal Davis.
Please Join us at Judson Memorial Church in Greenwich Village, NY, USA on January 31st, 2024 at 7:30pm EST for a conversation about spiritual traditions and the future of sustainability and to learn how to support the completion of the project. Doors & free food at 6:30pm.
You can also join the event live online.
Information will be available here.
WILDERNESS Art Photography Book and Video Project is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization.
