Orion 40th Anniversary Event 6/14

Tara C. Trapani

This year, Orion Magazine is celebrating 40 years of bringing rich and meaningful environmental writing to our world. They will mark this important milestone with an online event next Tuesday, June 14 at 6pm EST. The online event is free and open to all.  You can register for it here

According to the event site, the online event will consist of appearances by Margaret Atwood, Rebecca Solnit, Vanessa Nakate, Jane Goodall, Camille T. Dungy, Jeff VanderMeer, and many others, plus a tribute to nature writer Barry Lopez, who passed away on Christmas Day 2020. See this short short story from 2010 by Barry Lopez here on the Orion site. When you register for the event, you'll be entered to win a copy of Jeff VanderMeer's book Hummingbird Salamander

They are also hosting a virtual silent auction that will go until the live event is over, offering some unique and special experiences.

And in honor of their 40th, Orion is giving 40% off gift subscriptions until June 21.

Orion is also asking for donations in honor of this important milestone. Go here to send them a celebratory donation that will help support their important work.

Please join the Forum in congratulating Orion on the last 40 years and in hoping that they continue to bring us valuable writing about the natural world for many decades to come.
