The launch of the new Ecological Civilization section of our website coincided with a 5-week trip to China that Mary Evelyn and John took to engage in this topic from June 6 to July 12, 2024. This trip included:
- a conference on “The History and Future of Xinjiang, China” and a field trip in the west sponsored by Pan Yue (Deputy Minister of Ethnic Peoples)
- talks at universities in Beijing in the north
- an event at the Yale Center Beijing
- visits to UNESCO heritage sites of minority peoples in Lijiang and Dali in the mountains of Yunnan province in the southwest (view photos and see lecture info)
- “Confucius-Aristotle Symposium: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Challenges” at his birthplace in the east
- “Tenth Nishan Forum on World Civilizations”
