Holy Wisdom Monastery
Holy Wisdom Monastery, home of Benedictine Women of Madison, WI and a community of ecumenical Benedictine communities, weaves prayer, hospitality, justice and care for the earth into a shared way of life.
Care for the earth is a central value of the Monastery communities, and the Benedictine women who live there. The Monastery building itself was LEED certified platinum in 2010, the 130 surrounding acres contain a glacial lake restoration, ongoing prairie restorations, an ongoing oak savanna restoration, and extensive nature trails. the Friends of Wisdom Prairie community volunteers and donates to the ongoing restoration projects here at Holy Wisdom.
Holy Wisdom’s other ministries and projects include contemplative and spiritual retreat offerings throughout the year; an ecumenical Sunday Assembly celebration of the Eucharist; daily prayer and centering prayer; a 6 month Benedictine Sojourners live-in program for single Christian women; a community of Benedictine Oblates invested in Benedictine Spirituality in their own lives; and the ecumenical community of five Benedictine sisters who live and work here at the Monastery.
