The Amazon rainforest, the “lungs of our planet,” is under severe threat, and empowering indigenous peoples leadership is crucial for survival. Join us for an inspiring event featuring Sr. Laura Vicuna, Vice President of CEAMA (Ecclesial Assembly of the Amazon), and Mauricio Lopez, Director of the Pan-Amazonian University Network (PUAM). Together, they will share firsthand insights into the struggles of the Karipuna people, the urgent fight for indigenous rights, and the new pathways emerging for women in ministry and intercultural education in the Amazon. This event will include October Synod updates from Rome and a powerful invitation for Catholics and all people of good will to stand in solidarity with the Amazon and its defenders. Be part of this transformative conversation about co-responsibility, ecological stewardship, and a struggle that affects us all.
Co-Sponsors include Francesco Collaborative, Discerning Deacons, Metro New York Catholic Climate Movement, MGR Foundation, Christian Life Community, and Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace.
