Realistic Hope: Theological Ethics and Conservation Practice

Event description:

June 23, 2021

4-6pm BST (11am - 1pm EDT)

Celebration hosted by the Laudato Si' Research Institute

This celebration – Realistic Hope: Theological Ethics and Conservation Practice – was originally scheduled as the launch of the Institute in June 2020 but was postponed due to COVID.

The event will feature lectures by Professor Lisa Sowle Cahill (Boston College) on “Realistic Hope in Apocalyptic Times: The Ecological Challenge to Catholic Social Teaching” and Dr Enric Sala (Global Conservation Project, National Geographic) on “The Nature of Nature: Why We Need the Wild”. It will also include poetry readings by Professor Peter Davidson from Campion Hall, University of Oxford.

This is a hybrid event, with both live and remote speakers presenting to a small audience in Oxford, and the celebration as a whole livestreamed online. We cordially invite you to join us for the livestream.
