On Saturday, June 21, 2025, the Paul Winter Consort will present its 30th Annual Summer Solstice Celebration at New York’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine. As in years past, the concert will begin at 4:30 AM, marking the first light of summer with a one-of-a-kind musical experience.

The Summer Solstice Celebration is a musical welcome to the new season, held in the awe-inspiring acoustical space of the world’s largest cathedral. The program unfolds in total darkness and continuous flow, with music emerging from various locations throughout the Cathedral. As the sun rises, the stained-glass windows gradually fill with light, joining the sounds to carry audiences into the first dawning of summer.

After more than five years of restoration, the Cathedral’s historic Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ is back in action. Damaged by a fire in 2019, the 8,500-pipe instrument has undergone extensive repairs and will once again be featured in the performance. Tim Brumfield, long-time Consort collaborator and former Cathedral organist, will return to the bench for this special occasion.
