Waterspirit, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the sacredness of water and advocating for environmental justice, is excited to announce the upcoming Joys of the Sea Gala. The event will take place on March 21, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM at McLoone’s Pier House in Long Branch, NJ. This year’s gala will celebrate the incredible work of Waterspirit and honor Maya K. van Rossum, Delaware Riverkeeper and founder of the Green Amendment movement, who will receive the prestigious Suzanne Golas, Spirit of Water Award for her enduring leadership in passionately and proactively protecting the right to clean water and a healthy environment.
The evening will feature a silent auction, delicious food, and an inspiring program highlighting the importance of water conservation, especially in light of ongoing drought conditions in New Jersey and New York. With the region facing increasing water scarcity, it is more important than ever to advocate for sustainable practices that protect our vital water resources. This event will also raise awareness about the urgent need to advocate for funding renewable energy solutions that do not harm the Earth by exploiting its minerals and water. As communities come together to support the work of Waterspirit, the Joys of the Sea gala underscores the need for transformative change to secure water access for future generations and invest in energy sources that are truly sustainable.
