Buddhism and Ecology Summit

Event description:

April 17-21, 2023

Climate change is here. We have already been witnessing its devastating impacts on species and ecosystems across the globe—and now its harmful effects on our individual and collective mental health and psychological well-being are becoming increasingly clear.

Research now shows high levels of worry and anxiety about the state of the planet, especially among young people. As climate disruptions accelerate, we can expect that psychological distress will only increase. How can we work with the multitude of emotions we feel—grief, anger, anxiety, despair—in response to the suffering of the planet and loss of what we hold dear? And what does the dharma have to offer in these times?

Join us April 17-21 for Tricycle’s second annual Buddhism and Ecology Summit, a weeklong series of conversations with Buddhist teachers, writers, activists, and psychologists on transforming eco-anxiety into awakened action. Join Roshi Joan Halfix, Rebecca Solnit, Bill McKibben, Lama Liz Monson, and many others for perspectives and practices for working with difficult emotions and creating pathways toward meaningful change.
