A Celebration of the Yaak’s Ancient Black Ram Forest

Event description:

February 3, 2022

Online at 4:00 – 5:30 pm EST

An evening connecting people from all walks of life to celebrate and raise awareness for one of our last remaining ancient forests

We invite you to an online event to explore and celebrate the connection between vital landscapes and communities. During this celebration you will hear music by Buffalo Weavers, who focus their songs on strengthening relationships between people and their local ecosystems.

Marina Tsaplina will speak about the connections between disability and forest communities, sharing a recent artistic collaboration with Orion Magazine. “People with disabilities are as foundational, and as encroached, as our remaining ancient forests. No person or forest is disposable.” - Marina Tsaplina, disability artist and activist

The Yaak Valley Forest Council, protectancientforests.org, and Rick Bass will highlight conservation efforts underway in the remote Yaak Valley, where the Rampike area is currently threatened by the Black Ram timber sale. “Our primary goal as an organization right now is to stop the Black Ram sale. We hope the art you experience in this event will propel you to support our efforts.” - Amy Pearson, YVFC Executive Director

Following registration you will be emailed a Streamyard link on February 3rd to join the event. We look forward to seeing you for this special evening of music, education, advocacy, and celebration.
