Summary of Activity

SANDRP in Maharashtra is one of several critical community fish sanctuaries of India that protect the endangered Mahseer fish. These sanctuaries have been successful in conserving not only the fish, but also stretches of river habitat.

Impact

Despite lacking support from the government and limited recognition from the conservation community. SANDRP’s temple sanctuaries have conserved viable populations of the Mahseer fish.
