Waterspirit
The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace sponsor Waterspirit, a nonprofit center for spirituality and ecology. Waterspirit is a center committed to informing, inspiring, and enabling people to deepen their consciousness of the sacredness and interdependence of all creation with a focus on the role of water as critical in sustaining all life. Waterspirit educates, advocates, and collaborates to promote individual and systemic changes necessary to sustain water and life on Earth. Waterspirit is inclusive of people of all faiths and all who are interested in pursuing a spirituality that deepens their connection with Earth and all Her life systems.
Since 1998, Waterspirit has hosted hundreds of activities that have promoted awareness about the sacredness of water and steps that communities can take to protect it. Waterspirit's educational activities, spiritual programs, and clean water advocacy primarily take place in New Jersey, USA, and at the United Nations, although programs have been conducted throughout the US and Canada. Waterspirit has successfully advocated for policy changes in New Jersey that increase equitable access to clean water, strengthen renewable energy standards, and protect communities from pollution.
