Ecological civilization is a 30 year old movement in China to build a sustainable future after decades of rapid industrialization and modernization. The pollution of air, water, and soil created major public health challenges. The aspiration to create an ecological civilization has been in the Chinese constitution since 2018. We will explore the problems and promises of this aspiration.
