“The whole world is watching.”

Bishop Emeritus Wayne Miller, interim bishop of the Evangelical Church in America, Metropolitan Chicago Synod, reminded worshipers that they are under the world’s scrutiny and urged them to put their faith into action. He delivered the admonishment at the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity prayer service and signing ceremony, Jan. 24, at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church (Eastern), Chicago.

For the fourteen church bodies in the Chicago area that came together on Jan. 24 for the ecumenical Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, a purpose was to sign statements in solidarity to urge the federal government to remain committed to the international Paris Agreement on climate change and press Illinois legislators to order the removal of lead drinking water pipes from the state.
