Brayton Shanley is the co-founder of The Agape Community, (1982) is a lay Catholic residential community on 34 acres of land in Central MA. Brayton and his wife Suzanne share their lives with interns, guests and volunteers who live in a straw bale house and main residence with solar energy, compost toilet.  The community grows its own food and members drive a car that runs on grease.  Committed to contemplation and sustainability, the community is involved in interfaith dialogue and practice, including witness and action against war and capital punishment.  Brayton will share what can happen when we take on today’s global challenges–transforming our relationships with other people and living beings on the planet through a sustainable lifestyle centered in compassion and contemplation.
