As Canada and the United States prepare to negotiate and update the Columbia River Treaty, the “One River, Ethics Matter” conference series focuses on the Basin’s dam-building era, consequences for rivers in western Montana, and opportunities to protect these waters in a time of climate change. This is the 5th in a series of annual international ethics conferences on the past and future of the Columbia River focusing on tribes and First Nations. The series is modeled on another injustice, apartheid, and South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation process. The conference series is supported by the Ethics & Treaty Project.
