Faith-Based Organizations and Rio+20

World Environment Day Observance

United Nations Church Center, 10th Floor
New York, NY

Tuesday, 5 June 2012

10:00- 12:00

The Rio+20 Conference is, in the words of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, a “once in a generation opportunity” and that “nothing less than a revolution” was needed in order to secure the “future we want”.

With that in mind, it is clear that faith-based organizations have a critical role to play in ensuring such as transformative change.  Many such organizations will be participating in events in Rio that will showcase their commitments towards, and belief in, a more sustainable and inclusive future.

With World Environment Day being observed on the 5th of June, UNEP, in conjunction with the Temple of Understanding, is organizing a presentation by several faith-based organizations of their plans for Rio and, more importantly, beyond?

If you might wish to join us on World Environment Day and learn more about what faith-based organizations may be doing in Rio, please RSVP to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).  A tentative programme will be forwarded closer to the event.
