This April, Lead to Life is working in tandem with The King Center, the MLK50 Forward commemorative campaigns, and other partners in Atlanta to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination and disrupt the larger impacts of gun violence reverberating throughout the country.

Our events start with The People’s Supper on Wednesday evening, April 4th, - the night Dr. King was killed 50 years ago – where we will gather as a beloved community to collectively be nourished by the last meal Dr. King never had the chance to eat at Trees Atlanta. Click here to join us – we have limited seats available.

In our Reimagine Violence” ceremony on Friday evening, April 6th - we will transform guns into shovels in a live public participatory ritual alongside families impacted by gun violence in Atlanta – in partnership with our awe-inspiring metal artist James Brenner. Click here to join us and invite your folks!

On Saturday morning, April 7th, we are throwing a public Permaculture Action Day with our friends from Permaculture Action Network – using our tools made from weapons to help build up garden infrastructure at Mena’s Farm. Click here to join us and volunteer!

On Sunday morning, April 8th - we will gather at The King Center for a momentous Tree Planting Ceremony, calling in King’s ecological & cosmological vision. Then we will break up into groups to plant 50 trees with our shovels made from guns at sites impacted by violence and sacred sites across the city. The trees will be planted with soil collected from the site of the racial terror lynching of Mack Brown in 1936 in GA. You are invited to this intimate ceremony to seed healing together - click here to join us.
