Event description:

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine Presents the 17th Annual Summer Solstice Concert with Grammy-Winning Artist Paul Winter

The Paul Winter Consort will celebrate the dawn of the summer, prior to the longest day of the year, during the 17th annual Summer Solstice Celebration concert on Saturday, June 16 at 4:30 AM, at The Cathedral of St. John the Divine located at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street, Manhattan.

Beginning in complete darkness in the world’s largest Gothic cathedral, the Grammy®-winning ensemble, the Paul Winter Consort, will surround the audience and play continuously for two hours as the morning sun gradually illuminates the stained-glass windows.

Featured guests this year will be musicians from Bulgaria. Paul Winter says: “I have long been fascinated with the music of Bulgaria, and I finally got the chance to visit there last summer.  The Consort and I are excited to be collaborating with our new Bulgarian friends in this year’s Summer Solstice Celebration.”
